Laketown

As a publicly-held and federally-regulated enterprise, Alabama Power had the unique challenge of establishing a prudent and sustainable strategy for advancing private development of company-owned properties to promote quality economic development within the state’s lake communities. Daniel Communities was selected to orchestrate this strategy and establish the initial communities under the Laketown vision. The first was Kennebec which brought together the foremost architects in the Southeast to establish an enclave of pioneering aesthetic along the shore of Lake Martin. Next was the family-friendly retreat of Talisi also at Lake Martin which successfully established a boaters paradise with an easy and approachable cottage home program. Third, the private community of Mills Creek established the first Laketown development along Smith Lake seeding future development initiatives including public marina, commercial, entertainment and campground facilities.
